Large arrays of nanowires and nanorods can be fabricated inside the nanopores of anodic alumina, by depositing a wide range of materials, including metals such as platinum, gold, copper, nickel and palladium.  These structures can then be kept inside the anodic alumina template to yield nanocomposite membranes, exposed, or released as discrete structures for other uses such as:

• Plasmonics, SERS and LSPR
• Optical Antennas
