Large arrays of nanodots can be fabricated inside the nanopores of anodic alumina, by depositing a wide range of materials, including metals such as platinum, gold, copper, nickel and palladium. These structures can then be kept inside the anodic alumina template to yield nanoelectrode ensembles, which feature enhanced signal-to-noise versus traditional planar electrodes.
