Biotech & Pharmaceutical Manufacturing

Synkera's newest asymmetric membrane product line features controlled pore sizes at <5 nm. Membranes with pore sizes at 0.5-1 nm (appropriate for nanofiltration) are now also being developed. This is the ideal size range for separation of many biomolecules and active pharmaceutical ingredients. The United States NIH has provided Synkera several grants to develop this technology, with the result of products being introduced at the beginning of 2010. Features of our membranes that are relevant to biotech and pharmaceutical manufacturing:

  • sharp and controllable molecular weight cut-off (MWCO)
  • low fouling
  • high permeance and flux
  • customizable pore sizes, from several hundred nanometers to less than 5 nm
  • robust pore architecture, non-deformable.
  • modifiable surface chemistry:  minimize fouling, increase flux, multi-modal separations.

We are actively developing new applications for these membranes, and seeking partnerships in both industry and academia. Contact us if you have a particular application of interest, and we can quickly determine whether our technology can fit your needs.
